Shankar Krishnamoorthy

Shankar Krishnamoorthy is President and CEO of International Power-SUEZ Middle East, Turkey & Africa.

Shankar joined the GDF SUEZ Group in 1997. Prior to that, and after graduating from Delhi College of Engineering in 1982, he worked for BHEL and CGL – Indian power equipment manufacturers and contractors – building up experience in the energy sector.

In the GDF SUEZ Group, he served as the CEO of Indian operations at Bangalore, and as Chief Business Developer for Asia and Africa at GDF SUEZ Energy Middle East, Asia & Africa in Bangkok. In January 2007, he was appointed Executive Vice President and Head of Business Development for the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and India, and became General Delegate for GDF SUEZ in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

Shankar has made significant contributions to the successful development of several large IWPPs in the Middle East, portfolio rationalization through divestments in India, Singapore and South Korea and the restructuring and IPO of the Group’s Thai assets.

In January 2009, he became CEO of Kahrabel GDF SUEZ in Dubai – the company that oversees and manages the development, construction and operational activities of GDF SUEZ’s energy business in the Middle-East and North-Africa – which he built into the Middle East’s leading private power developer.

He took up his present position in February this year, when GDF SUEZ Energy International and International Power successfully completed the combination of their businesses.

 
Jan Vanoudendycke
Jan Vanoudendycke joined GDF Suez in 1987 and is mainly responsible for Operations in the Middle-East and North Africa, based in Dubai.
            An engineer with over 22 years experience in the power industry, he has occupied several positions such as O&M Manager in conventional and nuclear power plants and Product management in M&S for industrial customers. 
 
Abdulraouf Abudayyeh
Abdulraouf Abudayyeh joined Sogex Oman LLC. in 1977 and is responsible for the entire Operation and Maintenance activities in the Middle East and Algeria. He is an engineer with over 45 years of experience in the Power and Desalination Industry and he has also occupied the position of chairman of NOMAC, Saudi Arabia.
 
Graeme York

Graeme York is the Director of Operations and Engineering for the worldwide operations of International Power.  In this role Graeme is responsible for maintaining standards, and driving continuous improvement in the company’s operating power stations throughout the world.

Graeme has over 28 years experience in the energy industry in both a utility and with Independent Power Producers.  Graeme’s experience covers engineering, maintenance, business development and asset management in Australia, Europe and North America.  In Australia Graeme has been active in energy industry bodies and an industry representative on the Boards or Committees of energy market operators.

Graeme’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering, a Graduate Diploma in Engineering Maintenance Management, a Graduate Diploma of Management and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


 
Mukesh Sawhney
Mukesh Sawhney is the holder of a Bachelor degree in Commerce and is a chartered accountant. He has 37 years of experience of which 21 years in the Sultanate and 16 years in India. During his career he occupied several senior management positions such as Financial Controller, General Manager, Vice President (Finance and Commercial) and Financial Advisor to the Chairman of one of the largest companies in Oman. He is currently holding several director positions in different industries.
 
Jaideep Sandhu

Jaideep is Senior Vice President, Head of Technical and Operations & Maintenance Development in the International Power – GDF SUEZ, Middle East Turkey & Africa (META) team based in Dubai.

His responsibilities include the provision of technical and O&M support to Business Development in the META region. He has over twenty three years of experience in Greenfield development, acquisition, Operations & Maintenance, Rehabilitation, Renovation and Commissioning/re-commissioning of power stations and seawater desalination plants.

William King - General Manager
William King is the General Manager for STOMO responsible for the seven businesses including six operating assets and a fleet maintenance team group servicing gas turbines in Oman and Bahrain.  William started his career with Ontario Hydro Canada in Nuclear Operations and became part of the GDFSuez team commissioning combined cycle power plants in 1995. William moved to the United States and held positions as Plant Manager in Michigan and California. William followed this as the lead Project Engineer on a 2 BUSD merchant power fleet expansion in the USA for GDFSuez. Finally William managed the largest merchant power asset in Texas. In 2007 William relocated to Bahrain as Director at Hidd Power Station. William is a licensed Power Engineer and also holds a BSC degree in Operational Management.
 
Ravi Chandran – Chief Financial Officer

Ravichandran started his career in 1990 and has 21 years of experience of which 11 years in Sultanate of Oman. He has rich experience in Finance, Administration and Human Resources. He joined STOMO in May 2009.

Before joining STOMO he was holding the position of Finance and Administration Manager of Sohar Operation and Maintenance Company LLC a joint venture of GDF SUEZ Group and Sogex Oman LLC. Prior to that, he worked in Sogex Oman LLC in Oman and a Private Limited Manufacturing Company in India.  He is the holder of a Bachelor Degree in Commerce.

 
Geetesh Tamse – Human Resources Advisor
Geetesh Tamse is the Human Resource Advisor for  STOMO. Geetesh started his career in 1990 and has 20 years experience in Finance, Accounts, human resources and Audit. Having handled a Public Limited Company in Oman, he joined STOMO in February 2007. He is a Commerce graduate with an additional degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
 
J. Jaisankar – Stores and Procurement Manager
Jaisankar is a diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering with over 18 years experience in procurement, tenders and contract administration for power and desalination plants, sewage treatment plants and other miscellaneous maintenance projects in Oman.  He possesses extraordinary talent producing cost-effective solutions leading to increased productivity, decreased labour costs and improved quality.  He is currently holding the position of Purchase and Stores Manager.  In this role he is responsible for the centralized Procurement and Stores activities for all the power plant contracts in Oman being executed by STOMO.
 
Juma Al Balushi – Human Resources Manager
Juma Al Balushi started his career in June 1989 with Sogex Oman LLC as a local gas turbine operator at Al Rusail Power Plant. From June 1997, he was promoted to main control room operator managing system load, frequency and voltage control in coordination with the MEW control center and other connected power stations. In February 1998, he joined the Oman National Electric Company SAOG in the Operations Department in the position of Assistant Shift Charge Engineer. In February 2007, Juma joint STOMO and based on his past experience he was promoted to the position of Shift Charge Engineer. Based on his outstanding relational skills and great team work he became the HR Manager of STOMO in April 2008.
 
Stephane Devos – Health Safety and Environmental Manager
Stephane is a master electro-mechanical engineer with additional degrees in aeronautical engineering and occupational health and safety and environment with an experience for over 16 years in the areas of power and natural gas transmission and distribution grids in Europe, North and Central America and the Middle Eastern. Currently he is the health, safety and environmental manager for the STOMO group as well as the HSE coordinator for GDF Suez subsidiaries throughout the MENA region.
 
Shageen Prabhakaran – IT Manager
Shageen has over 15 years of high level experience in Information and Communication management systems and he is specialized in technical design and planning of ICT infrastructures with Microsoft and various Networking products.           
Shageen started his career as an Engineer for the Channel Partners which is one of the largest hardware providers in India. Following this experience he progressed as a Senior Network and Server Engineer for a large IT provider in Muscat Oman before joining STOMO. Shageen currently leads the IT Department in STOMO and is an active participant in the IPR-GDFSuez IT Networking Group. He holds a degree in Science and has achieved various professional certifications in IT including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Ver. 3 foundation.
 
Sunil Kumar – Training Manager
 Sunil Kumar is an Electronics engineer.  He has rich experience of over 14 years of Power Plant commissioning and maintenance. He worked in coal based power plants, combined cycle power plants and desalination plants in India and the Sultanate of Oman.  He started his career in India as an Engineering Executive Trainee in 1995. Sunil joined STOMO in May 2009.
 
Naveen Jha – Technical Support Manager
Naveen is a graduate electrical engineer having over 20 years of direct experience in Installation, Commissioning and Operation of Combined Cycle Power and Desalination plants in India and Oman. He has been recently promoted from the position of Operations manager at Sohar Power Plant to the position of Production Support Manager at the Barka II Head Office so as to take the advantage of his vast experience in supporting the O&M of all the four Power Plants in the Sultanate.

Barka II Power and Desalination Plant
 
Matt York – Site Manager B2/B3
Matt York joined STOMO in January 2008 as Site Manager of the Barka II Power and Desalination Plant located in Oman. Matt is responsible for the daily management of the Barka II and Barka III facility and has played a vital role during the commissioning and the start-up phase of the Barka II project bringing the plant into commercial operation in November 2009.
            Matt has full management responsibilities for two of the largest Power and Desalination Plants in the Sultanate. Matt is a graduate of St. Clair College, Canada (Power Engineering program) and has held various positions including commissioning and operation of new power plants in Canada. Matt is also the leader of the IPR-GDFSuez Reverse Osmosis Networking group.
 
Abdullah Al Rawahi – Operations Manager
 Abdullah is a graduate mechanical engineer and has a master degree in Industrial Engineering with 16 years of direct experience operating and managing power plants in Oman. He started his career as Shift charge engineer in Al Rusail Power Plant. He was promoted to the position of Operations Manager at Al Rusail Power Plant in 2001. Then he was transferred for the same post to Barka II Power and desalination Plant in October 2007. In this role he is responsible for the operations of a plant which produces 678 MW and 120,000 m3/day.
 
Anupam Kunwar – Maintenance Manager
  Anupam is a graduate electrical engineer with 18 years of experience in maintenance of steam and gas turbines including over 10 years experience in maintenance of power plants in India. He has worked for one of the largest combined cycle utilities in India where he was involved in design review, commissioning and maintenance of the utility. He continued his career at Al Rusail Power Plant, the largest open cycle plant in Oman, in various capacities. His contributions at Al Rusail include commissioning of a new metering system and other upgrades to the power plant.
            His core competence is effective Preventive and Predictive Maintenance as well as handling breakdown maintenance to enhance equipment reliability and up time. He has extensive experience in carrying out Technical Audits, Condition Monitoring, Failure Analysis of the equipments and systems as well exposure to handling Materials Management functions and effective management of spare parts and consumables. He is presently working as Maintenance Manager at the Barka II Power and Desalination Plant.
 
Barka III Power Project
 
Tomaz Guadagnin – Operations Manager

Tomaz is an Electrical Power System Engineer graduated at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Brazil. He started in the GDF Suez group in 2005 in the position of Operation Engineer in hydro plants of Tractebel Energia in the South of Brazil. He joined the GDF Suez International in 2008 when he had the opportunity to work  in the construction and commissioning of the Barka II Power and Desalination Plant in Oman as a Plant Operation and Maintenance Engineer. In STOMO, Tomaz executed a key role on the SAP implementation and setting up the initial business process of the Company. Following to that, Tomaz joined Glow, in Thailand, for the construction and commissioning of the Glow Phase 5 project. In Glow he has performed his activities in the position of Operation and Maintenance Advisor coordinating the participation of the Operation team in the plant commissioning works. Additionally, he was involved in all aspects of the operation of the plant working very close to the Owner’s Engineer and to the EPC Contractor. After leaving Brazil, Tomaz has been focusing his career on the operation of Combined Cycle facilities across different companies of the GDF Suez Group. Tomaz returned to STOMO in July 2011 in the position of Operations Manager of the Barka 3 Project.


 
Kanchan Shere – Maintenance Manager

Kanchan Shere is the Maintenance Manager of Barka III plant. Kanchan joined STOMO in June 2011 during erection & commissioning activities of Barka III. Prior to joining STOMO, Kanchan was working with a IWPP, Q Power in Qatar for six years heading the Control & Instrumentation department with an additional responsibility of stand-in Engineering & Maintenance Manager. He was working for Siemens Germany before joining Q Power and was holding key positions at various phases of multinational projects. He has been involved in commissioning of Mirfa, Jebel Ali and Shuweihat Power and Desalination projects.

 His career acumens with a diversified multinational industrial experience of 16 years. His contribution towards proactive, cost saving approach and completing the tasks efficiently while working from EPC contractor side and then from Owner side plays a vital role as Maintenance Manager for STOMO. His master’s degree of “MBA in Engineering Business Manager” from Manchester University, UK has ascertained him with strong technical, soft and financial skills to accomplish his role. He has made significant contribution towards AGC conceptualization and reconfiguration of Fuel Demand Model and Maximo implementation at Q Power, Blending Plant at Jebel Ali K1 and versatile projects. He also heads the I&C networking group for GDF SUEZ Middle East and North African region.


 
Sohar I Power and Desalination Plant
 
Mike Mosley – Site Manager S1/S2
 Mike Mosley joined STOMO in March of 2008 as the Operations Manager at Al Rusail Power Plant.  In November of 2008, Mike assumed the position of Site Manager at Sohar I Power Plant which is a combined Power and Water production facility. In January 2011 Mike also asumed responsibilities for the Sohar II power project. Prior to working with STOMO Mike gained extensive experience in commissioning and operation at start ups throughout South East Asia and is has extensive experience in the power generation area for the USA military. Mike has also and worked at various power generation projects such as coal fired, gas fired and geothermal in South East Asia.  In his role he is striving to maximize plant efficiencies and maintain high reliability standards utilizing the synergies within the STOMO group.
 
Yaqoub Al Harthi – Operations Manager
Yaqoub is a graduate mechanical engineer with over 7 years direct experience operating power plants in Oman. He started his career as a shift charge engineer in Rusail power plant and then operation manager at the same plant. He has recently been moved to Sohar power and desalination plant as Operations Manager. In this role he is responsible for leading his people to operate the plant with 3 gas turbines, one steam turbine and 4 multi-stage flash units in the most efficient manner.
 
Rajesh Srinivasan – Maintenance Manager
Rajesh Srinivasan is a graduate mechanical engineer with over 21 years of power and desalination plant operation and maintenance experience. He has a versatile experience by starting his career in a thermal power plant of the leading aluminum sector in India and subsequently moved on to a combined cycle power plant with latest technology gas turbines and steamers. His maintenance management exposure also includes experience at a Reverse Osmosis plant which was the biggest in the world (at 2003) along with a combined cycle power and desalination plant at Fujairah, UAE. His experience includes the various plant commissioning and maintenance upkeep of equipments along with engineering review and technical innovative modifications enhancing the plant’s performance for continuous improvement. He is at present responsible for the maintenance department at the Sohar Power and Desalination plant.
 
Sohar II Power Project
 
Frederik Baerts – Operations Manager

Frederik Baerts has a master’s degree in electro-mechanical engineering. He started his career in 2004 in Tractebel Engineering’s nuclear department performing engineering studies mainly for a nuclear plant located in Doel, Belgium. Four years later, in 2008, he joined GDF SUEZ Energy International and has been working since on the refurbishment of a plant with pulverized coal units (Calaca, Philippines); in projects, operation and maintenance of a plant with a combined cycle unit with an Alstom GT26, pulverized coal units, fuel oil fired units and open cycle gas turbines (Tocopilla, Chile); in commissioning of a plant with two circulating fluidized bed units (Mejillones, Chile). His experience includes general power plant engineering, daily operation and maintenance of coal and gas fired power plants and acceptance tests.


 
Ganesh Gandhi – Maintenance Manager

Ganesh Gandhi is a graduate Electrical Engineer with over 16 years experience in Maintenance and commissioning field. He started his career with Sterlite Copper Industries and subsequently moved onto the combined cycle power plant in India. He was involved with commissioning of Sohar-1 power and desalination plant and Barka-2 power and desalination plant. His maintenance experience includes maintenance of Alstom, Siemens, Ansaldo Gas and steam turbines. He joined Stomo on October 2009 as Electrical Engineer of Barka-2 Power and Desalination plant. He has been promoted to Maintenance Manager of Sohar-2 Power plant in June 2011.

 
Al Rusail Power Plant
 
Mitchel Malana – Site Manager
Mitchel Malana is the Site Manager of STOMO’s Al Rusail Power Plant. Before this move Mitchel was the O & M Manager at Manah Power Plant. In his new role, he assumes full management responsibilities of the largest simple cycle power plant in Oman and will build on the successes from Manah by focusing on synergies within the STOMO group.
            Mitchel is a graduate mechanical engineer with over 25 years direct experience operating and managing power plants in South East Asia, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Mitchel has worked in many capacities and brings a diverse skill set to his new position.
 
Raghavulu Padala – Maintenance Manager
 Raghavulu Padala is a graduate Mechanical Engineer having 18 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of frame 9 GE gas turbines and its auxiliaries in Oman, 2 ½ years experience in maintenance jobs at a major refinery in Kuwait and 5 years experience in operation and maintenance jobs of coal fired boilers and steam turbines in a Power Plant in India.
 
Salim Abdullah Sulaiyam Al Shamsi – Operations Manager
Salim graduated from the University of Wales Swansea, Wales, England in 2002 in Mechanical Engineering. The same year, he joined Al Rusail Power Plant as a trainee Shift Charge Engineer. From 2004 to 2007, he has been working as a Shift Charge Engineer at the Rusail plant. In 2007, he was selected (along with other members of the Rusail Power Plant) by the management to move to the Barka II plant while it was still under construction in order to prepare for the future plant handover. In 2009, the Barka II Plant was successfully handed over and he was assigned the position of Day Shift Engineer, responsible for e.g. SAP familiarization, invoice preparation, Wonderware configuration and other topics relating to the safe and efficient operations of the new plant. In May 2010, he was promoted to the position of Operations Manager of Al Rusail Power Plant. Salim is holding a MBA from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. He strives to integrate his past experience with his latest study to maximize the efficiency of STOMO’s operating systems.
 
Manah Power Plant
 
Asokan Ramalingam – Site Manager Manah
Asokan Ramalingam is the Site Manager of STOMO’s Manah Power Plant. Prior to his promotion, Asokan was working in the position of Maintenance Manager at Manah Power Plant, Oman. Asokan recently assumed full management responsibilities at Manah and will build on his success as Maintenance Manager.Asokan is a graduate mechanical engineer with over 19 years experience in maintenance of steam and gas turbines which included over 10 years in erection and commissioning of steam turbines in India.  Asokan continued his career at Manah with various positions leading up to his current role.
 
Fleet Maintenance
 
Daniel Peteanu – Fleet Maintenance Manager
Daniel Peteanu joined STOMO in November 2008 as the O&M Manager of Al Rusail Power Plant. In April 2009, he was appointed as STOMO’s Maintenance Centre Manager in charge of executing large scale outages at STOMO facilities as well as in Bahrain. In his position he is overseeing and coordinating STOMO’s maintenance activities for increased efficiency, reliability and cost effectiveness. Daniel has more than ten years experience in the Gulf as a consultant and then as maintenance lead in a major GDFSuez Power and Desalination plant. Daniel has over 26 years experience in the power generation sector. Daniel has a Master of Engineering Degree in the field of Energetics from the Polytechnic University in Bucharest.
 
Lieven Van Zele – Senior Mechanical Expert
Lieven started in the Nuclear power plant Doel (Belgium) working for Electrabel (GDF Suez) in 1983, he was a critical part of the erection and maintenance team. In this role Lieven was responsible for the mechanical team in charge of all rotating equipment at two Nuclear power plants. Lieven transferred to the Maintenance Competence Center Electrabel (Belgium) in 1996 managing steam turbines and gas turbines. In 2007 Lieven transferred to the Middle East as a Project leader/expert in STOMO playing a vital role in the managemeent and maintenance of the Siemens SGT 3000 fleet of gas turbines. Lieven is a Graduate mechanical engineering and also holds a Post graduate Masters in maintenance management.

 
Laszlo Nagy – Mechanical Expert

Laszlo Nagy is graduated as a Mechanical Engineer in Hungary in 2002. He started his carrier at Dunamenti power plant (a GDF-Suez plant in Hungary) in 2002, worked at the mechanical maintenance department and became responsible for gas turbines.  He joined STOMO in May 2008 as Maintenance Expert and has been occupied mainly with preparation and execution of Minor Inspections on the V94.2 gas turbines at Barka, Sohar and Al-Ezzel power plants. Currently he is working in the Fleet Maintenance team of STOMO.
